Linford Bottom – New Forest

Sunday 20th October 2019

9:30 am start – (NOTE EARLIER THAN MOST OTHER FORAYS).

Please note that in line with the Forestry Commission’s new rules we have successfully obtained a permit for this foray.

Many of you will have seen or heard of the recent picking ban that has been imposed in the New Forest, the outline of which can be read here http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-6e3gaz This article has now been updated in August 2017 to advise people not to pick, so the Forestry Commission appear to have relented somewhat. The total ban on commercial picking still stands though.

From Ringwood direction head towards Southampton A31(T). Turn left shortly before Picket Post – Signposted Shobley/Linford, and is the first turning after passing “In Excess” garden centre and can easily be missed at the top of Poulner Hill! A very narrow road with passing places. After approx 1 mile there is a car park signposted to right. Over a small bridge, two car parking areas – in total 30 + spaces. (Suggest use car park alongside the forest 20+ spaces). This does however get very busy very quickly hence the earlier start time!
