A warm ITALIAN & ENGLISH welcome can be found at Casa Valeria in Pigna - an unspoilt medieval village in the Upper Nervia Valley, between the Italian Riviera and the Ligurian Alps. The village is dominated by the 12th Century Church of San Michele, and the narrow cobbled streets which slope down into the village. The area is well known for the wonderful scenery, mountain villages (easily reached by car), local cuisine and festivals, walking, cycling, wildflowers and wildlife. We can arrange walks, visits to surrounding villages, wild mushroom picking and more. The coastal town of Ventimiglia is about half an hours drive from Pigna. From here it is easy access by car or train to places such as San Remo, Monaco, Nice, Cannes etc. There is also a large outdoor market in Ventimiglia every Friday, as well as a colourful flower, fruit and vegetable market.

Directions

Take the A8 route from Nice Airport until the Italian border - changes to A10. Continue until you reach Ventimiglia (several tolls here). When you enter the town there is a large fountain in the middle of the roundabout. Go straight through the long main street and over a railway bridge.

At the next roundabout turn sharp left to SP64 for Pigna. Pass through the villages of Camporosso, Doleacqua, Isolabona. After about 5km past Isalabona turn left onto the SP69 Strada Gouta.

Stay on this road for about 1.5km (several sharp bends). The house is second on the left with yellow and green shutters.

We offer B&B for two people sharing a room for E60 (about £40) a night per room. Children under 5 years - FREE, 5-12 years - HALF PRICE, over 12 years - FULL PRICE.

There are two en-suit rooms reached by an outside staircase. The Peach room has a double bed, balcony and large terrace. The Lilac room id twin bedded and has a balcony. From both rooms there is a wonderful view down the valley and up in to the mountains - were we are overlooked by the magnificent 2000m Mount Toraggio. Tea & coffee making facilities are available in both rooms. We also have a large garden with about 40 olive trees. If you you want to do is relax under one of these all day, that's fine! There is also a large covered patio area with a pizza oven and a BBQ.

The nearest airport is Nice (about one & half hours drive). If you are not travelling in your own car we really advise that you hire one. There are a few car hire offices at the airport but it might be better to arrange this before you leave and pick up when you arrive. We can also advise you about alternative forms of transport.
